I create art that is dynamic and evocative by design.
Effective communication has been a lifelong compulsion of mine. I built my career and reputation in the visual arts—creating both commercial and fine art—based upon a command of artist's materials & methods and their expressive use. My formative years were the 1960s, a time of great cultural experimentation and exploration. That period inspired me to find ways to express my feelings about the evolving world around me.
My professional art career began in high school as a freelance graphic artist. I added illustration and painted portraiture to my professional career, while in college earning a degree in Fine Art. Since college I have combined the unique and overlapping challenges of creating effective commerical and fine art. You’ll examine both kinds of artwork here, all of it encouraged by curiousity and the urge to tell stories visually.
My work in a variety of mediums: photography, glass and ceramic art, sculpture, jewelry making, creating political cartoons led me to renew my passion for fine art landscape and figurative painting in 1986. Awards in competitions followed, so did features in national and international magaizines and books, recognizing my work in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel and various drawing mediums followed. I was designated Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America. I’ve had shows and exhibitions of my fine art in Yosemite and Grand Canyon National Parks, the California State Railroad Museum and many private galleries.
My fine art caught the eye of Bel-Air Country Club in the early 90s; the painting, On The Tee With Jack Nicklaus at Bel-Air led to many commissioned paintings, as well as graphic design assignments and history displays for private golf and country clubs, among them: San Francisco Golf Club, Hacienda Golf Club, PGA WEST Resorts, Redlands Country Club, the Southern California PGA, Santa Ana Country Club and Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles.
I continue to enjoy the challenge of satisfying my creative spirit, as well as the needs of my clients. I invite you to explore my website, and blog, to learn more about my art. I welcome your inquiries.
